On the eve. of New Years Eve. I was going to slay you all with entertaining stories of New Years pasts. However, I got nothing, nada, not a single amusing story.
One great thing about new Years Eve. is to have a true love to ring in the new year with. Sure it's often about getting drunk, and eating food, but the kiss at midnight is the hallmark of a good new Years Eve. At least that's what I used to think
In the late teen years, any boyfriend I had was either A. In Jail, B. Decided New Years eve. was a good time to break up. C. passed out long before midnight. D. cheating on me.
The early twenties are somewhat of a blur, and I'm thinking every night was New Years Eve. I vaguely remember many nights of rolling in after a night a dancing and drinking, at the wee hours of the morning. So New Years Eve. wasn't such a novel idea, and I am sure plenty of kissing was exchanged at midnight.
Of course Semi ex and I have celebrated many New Years Eves together. But none are standing out. Of course after Jennie was born, making it until midnight was often a chore we would all be asleep by 10:00 pm. assuming that it must be the new year somewhere in the world.
Tomorrow night we may be spending New Years Eve. at friends, watching the Bears/Packers game. Which to be honest, I could give a rats ass about, but feel like I should at least pretend to care.
Matt will be at the game with his cousin. Here is the weather report
A few rain showers early mixing with snowshowers late. Thunder possible. Low 38F. Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph.Chance of precip 60%.
To say that I am paranoid about his driving, on New years Eve. with that kind of weather, is an understatement.
But semi ex gave him permission and acted like I was practically crazy if I made him miss this opportunity.
I asked Matt if I should buy him a pair of long underwear. I figured if he made it to the game without getting in a major car crash he should at least be warm. Besides he has a cold. I was informed that sure, I could buy him some, but he would never wear them. He also said he has been dressing himself for eighteen years, and could manage. I told him technically, that wasn't true as I am pretty sure I dressed him until he was at least five.
He wanted to know if I was going to call him in college and ask if he was planing on attending a football game, and then telling him what to wear. When I said yes, of course I was, he said he wasn't going to answer his phone. Ever. So it looks like I will be getting an apartment in Bloomington Indiana next year.
I wonder if they have dysfunctional, drug rehabs for court mandated boys there? If not I may have to start charging my subs ( that would be you), fifty cents a month to read this blog.
The rest can be covered by welfare. Or I can always live out of my van, if I invest in a lap top, I should be fine.
Happy New Year, see ya in 2007. Hope you ring it in with someone you love.
Here are some Israel pictures from Jennies trip, no the camera was not found, this is from friends.
Camel ride.
Could these kids look any more Jewish?
Hebrew Monopoly
Dead Sea Mud!!!!
Jennie is in the blue shirt
An old synagog
I guess they have a lot of cats in Israel. This kittie looks kind of mean.
wailing wall. This is where you put prayers. Jennie said it was hard to find an empty space. They take them out every Yom Kippur. I said, if I didn't find room, I'd take some out myself. I'm sure G-d is a fast reader.

Great pics. I'm surprised Matt let you dress him until five...my girls became independent shortly after mastering walking. Some of the outfits they came up with!! But I guess nothing has changed too much...since one has pink hair right now. Hmmmm.... I think I may have screwed them up. I say force the long underwear... you never know -- it could save his butt!!! (at least from the cold.)
These are really nice pictures. Thank you for sharing them.
May your New Year be full of love, laughter, health and prosperity.
Hugs,
~May
Love the pics, still, it's sad the camera was lost. LOL at the 50 cents. I spent 4 happy years in Bloomington IN, but I was between 7 and 11....I'm guessing your son will have more fun. It's a beautiful town, I'm sure you'll have a lovely view from your parking place. You could always shower at the university library and be sure and wear a shirt that says "I'm Matt's mom", he'll love that!
"So it looks like I will be getting an apartment in Bloomington Indiana next year." LOL...I'd do the same thing.
Neat pictures. I'm still sorry that she lost her camera.
Those are great pictures. I'm glad Jennie will have some pics, but I know it won't make up for the ones she lost. Poor kid. There is some beautiful scenery in Israel. The old synagogue is gorgeous - so ornate!
LOL about getting an apartment in Bloomington next year! And I don't blame you for being worried about him getting in a wreck and being cold. It's what we do!
Have a gret New Year's, Laura!
Kathi
what great pics...looks like jennie had so much fun...
i actually had something witty i was going to say but by the time i started typing it was gone lol...
Nice pics. New Year's Eve is a funny time for me anymore. It used to seem so magical to stay up till midnight and see the new year in; now we just huddle in our house and hope no one shoots a firecracker onto our roof.
RYC: Isreal is beautiful. I want to go there someday before I die. I am kind of afraid to, though. I'm glad Jennie's trip was good and that she's home safe.
great pics! I have a pic of my daughter on a camel too. :camera: .but it's not in Isreal...it was at a zoo in Oklahoma...LOL...I hope you have a wonderful 2007!!
Awesome pics... i want dead sea mud -- always been facinated by the dead sea. Matt better get used to it FOREVER:birdie:
Israel looks amazing.. is it really true about the dead sea salts?
I never remember any stand-out New Year's either, saving one New Year's Day that I was so sick from champagne that I didn't care if I saw another or not. Thanks for posting those pictures. It's so interesting!
Mud! Glorious mud!
rycs: You've got issues.
That boy of yours sure has a big attitude.
RYC: not to worry, I'm not going anywhere.
I didn't do the same exact thing to my mom when we had to march a parade in December. She bought the thermal underwear, and I just didn't wear it. It ended up being like 70 degrees anyways. I appreciate my mom, and I'm sure he does too.
I love the pictures. Except for the cat. I feel like it is going to jump out at me at any time.
I'd pay $6 a year to read you :wink-wink: Great photos...hey does that girl in the brown pants have Jenni's camera???? I know they have a Monopoly game for everything!
Awesome pix!!!!! The last time I went out anywhere on NYE was 1999. I was disappointed when things didn't start randomly exploding. LOL!
Great pictures I would love to see Isreal and the dead sea. It was nice of her friend to share the pictures with Jen.
Happy New Year Laura :celebrate:
lol Sometimes I just can't stand New Years Eve.
The Israel pictures are really cool. I was just reading someone else's blog not too long ago about their trip to Israel. What a neat trip. If I had the cash, I would go myself.
Great photos. Hebrew monopoly....LOL. Riding a camel -something she for sure can say when asked "tell me something interesting about yourself."
I don't think I have ever had a NYE kiss of the "lets go have sex when this party bullshit is over" type. Or a kiss like that under mistetoe for that matter.
I love the photos. It looks like she had a great time. I'll bet by the time Matt is freezing his arse off he will be wishing he let his mom buy him long underwear! Of course he'll never admit it!
OMG I thought I would NEVER say this but KIDS!?!?!?! Geez! New Year's has never been a big deal for me either and won't be again this year. Oh well. Not too upset about. I'm sure my husband will drink enough for both of us and that I'll fall alseep WAY before midnight. Can I send $5 and be paid up for awhile? I would hate to write a .50 check.
wonderful photos ... i don't think about past new year's eves ... keep looking to the future ... something good has got to happen one of these days... :dancingcow: ... best wishes for 2007 ...
RYC: Once you have it, you can shoot whomever you like.
those pics are incredible~! i want to ride a camel...
Have a happy new year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome pics, sorry she didn't find her camera. Maybe it will still show up in someones luggage!
I'll be at the game too, only up in a suite working. At least I'll be warm. It's not so cold now, but I'm not on the lakefront! And as for telling him what to wear, I still quiz the 21 year old!!!
The scenary pics are beautiful!!
Happy New Year!
Happy new year to you and yours...may the new year be safe and warm.
RYC: thank you! :hammer:
Happy New Year, loved loved the photos.
At least you can spend the game time watching for Matt in the crowd.
Next time you need a date on New Year's, maybe you could visit one of your old boyfriends in jail.
You can also leech off someone else's wireless while you're in the van....fun stuff.
Happy New Year!
Amazing pics.
A wall for prayers...quite fascinating. I would need the entire wall!! :hammer:
LOVE the pics of Jerusalem. Particularly the stairway and wailing wall. I hope to see it myself one day. My fella is watching the Bears/Packers game tonight too. I just baked two cakes, have stroganoff planned for dinner, and will be cuddling with the kiddos as the year rings in. I laughed my arse off reading your discussion of dressing Matt [past/present/future]. I dressed my first two until they were 5 also. My last one rebelled at the age of 3 and decided he was tank engine enough to head butt me into submission. :wink-wink: As soon as dinner is cooked, I'm putting up my feet and popping in a chick flick during the game. I'm SO not into football. ryc: You deserve a peaceful year. I hope it begins that way at midnight. Perhaps a bit of fun is in order as well. :dancingcow: (Sorry for the dissertation. I seem to have that curse.)
Great pics of Israel. I hope to go someday. Happy New Year!!!
Great pics! I'm sorry she never found her camera. That's gotta stink. I hope your New Years Eve is a good one. Some are just more exciting than others. Have a great one and see you in "07
I'd pay 50 cents a month to read your blog

Love
the pics. That camel ride looks like fun! (I rode an elephant at the cicus once...boy did he stink :what:) Hebrew monopoly, looks interesting.
If you can't tell your son how to dress anymore, at least have some fun reminding him that he has to wear clean underwear in case he ever has to go see the docter:grin:)
Happy New Year! :celebrate:
Great pictures!! Looks like she had an amazing time!!! I hope you have a wonderful New Year's Eve, Laura. I just got done making everybody what they wanted for dinner (and I ate none of it) .. I have to run son #2 to a friend's house, then we'll watch a movie, drink and have snacks. I hate being on the road with all the drunks, so I'd rather stay safe on my couch!!! Have a great 2007, my cyber-friend!!
Alicia :dancingcow:
wait until he spends the money you sent for boots on cds! or decides that living on ramen is worth the cost of going to a concert! ah yes... fun times ahead! ps. we both know he'll wish he had the long johns!!! but he'll never admit it!
Obviously the cat is a shape-shifter...
Will Dan move into the Van with you?
Matt just made Adam's new year. Didn't think he wanted to go?!
Jennie's pics... priceless. Good thing it was free.
Happy 2007 Laura, Peace, love and laughter to you and to yours. Semi ex also.
Great Pics.
You should just tell Matt that you plan to help him dress as long as there is breath left in you...deal with it!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Happy New Years....I hope your new year is full of
love, laughter, happiness, and good health.
I love the pics and I love you!!

Great Pictures! I would love to go to Isreal. What an awesome opportunity for her!
I hope you have a great new year! I know that this year I plan on losing all this stupid weight! I'm tired of being fat!
Have a great one!!!
Hello Girl,
I really enjoyed the pics.
My heart goes out to you in the last hours of this fleeting year. My hope is for you to have closure from this dying year and to look ahead for the possibilities but to remember the memories and friendships made, while keeping in mind the new memories to be had. I pray that next year brings you whatever happiness that your heart desires. I know that the pleasure has been all mine and that I treasure the new friends that I have made. I hope that we are all here this time next year to partake in this event again. Till then I bid you a safe passage. I give a toast to you and wish you luck in grasping all of your new resolutions. Thanks for being part of my Xanga life.

Sometimes I threaten to buy a laptop, a big conversion van and a wireless card and pack up my dog and only hit civilization to steal bandwidth!
Hope your new years is a good one this year and that no one cheats or ends up in jail!
:dancingcow: Happy New Year funny lady! Thanks for all the laughs in 2006 and hers to more in 2007 ::::::::::::::cheers:::::::::::: :celebrate: Great pics! ~J4J~
When I was younger, I never got kissed enough, esp. on NYE.:brokenheart:
This year, I was awakened at 1:15 a.m.:sleepy:, but at least Barbara and I both got our kiss in.:celebrate:
Had to go to bed early, and miss what may have been Brett Favre's last game. :not-talking: And YOU got stuck watching what you don't give a rat's ass about. :steamed: How ironic is that?:ROTFL:
Happy New Year, Laura!
I enjoyed the pics. Happy New Year
I absolutely loved the pictures....and I always appreciate your posts.... Know what you mean about the only son going off somewhere alone....in a car....on a holiday...gulp.... Adam went to college in Indiana....it's 10 hours from Elmira.....10....L O N G, B O R I N G, H O U R S most of them across PA and Ohio...yawn.... I thought about the whole living out of you car thing too....decided against it.....I REALLY like my creature comforts.....does that make me a bad Mom???
Happy New Year!!
What wonderful photos! My neighbor visited Israel a few years ago and had lovely pics to share, too.
Hope your '07 is happy and healthy!
My New Year's resolution is going to be "No More New Year's Eve Parties". Ugh.....I guess I am getting too old.
I wish I could still dress my kids. I see things in the store that I absolutely LOVE and think they would look great in and they roll their eyes at me! LOL
Happy New Year!!
I bet he's regretting his decision not to wear long underwear now...mwahaha!
I don't always post a comment. I find it's hard to keep up. I do so enjoy reading your site.
I love the pic's.
Hope you have a wonderful New Year.
Be blessed always,Prayers and love... Tamara
Lets see, oh yeah in England a bunch of Druids hung out at stonehenge for the winter solstice. Instead of a ball dropping down in times square they were staring at around where the sun drops in the west( or was it watching the sun rise in the east?) Obviously the mistletoe tradition move to NYE tradition, but holidays meant drinking and other pagan rites.
The Chinese celebrate their new years according to the phase of the moon. The American new years is so artificial and have no correlation to the importance to the moon. The moon probably effect women on whether or not they feel romantic or not.
Well at least Jen didn't have to go to the wailing wall at a certain time, she just has to get in her prayer before Yon Kippur....
Hmm, maybe the Ipod and the camera were offered up as sacrifice for the safe return of you precious daughter? Naw, I don't think sacrifices like that go for G-d but to the Lord of the Pawnshop?
