I know you all were dying for more pictures.  Here ya go, don't beg.

    Another mom kid photo

rural home stay hut which if you have not read the story it's here on Jen's site

And here is the family with her friend Tess

Jennie walks to school with two young girls

Is this not beautiful?  Robben island with view of Table Mountain

    ha ha

resettlement house.  Not a pretty South African site

I got to steal these from facebook.  She let me because of internet and camera issues.

Looks like someone is getting some action! Lizard porn?

    Cool

    Pretty bird

Please keep commenting on her site so she will keep updating when she can.  I really look forward to them and I know she likes to hear that people appreciate the effort.

    Edit"

She has actually written more about her Indian Family, please check out.

Thanks in advance.  It's very hard for her to get  the time and the computer access  to write these travel blogs, so please give her the props she deserves.

ps.  If you notice her hair is back in almost all the pictures.  That's because of lack of shower.  Jennie has long THICK hair.  It must suck.  I bet she takes like a two hour shower and then a bath when she gets home.

  • Cool pictures - thanks for sharing

  • I love the pics Laura, not to fond of the 1 home though. I guess we will call that poverty?   I love the hut very different but i do like it.  Thanks for sharing.

  • Very cool pictures!!!  :sscrush:

  • Your heart just breaks for those people.

  • Africa.....

    pretty birds...ok

    monkeys in the road.... ok

funky huts with no water.... ok

    PENGUINS????? what the hell?

  • I'm too grossed out by the lizard porn to respond.

  • I'm off to visit Jennie but just wanted to stop by and say hi. ryc: you are definitely invited to the next BBQ -- I'll save you a plate!

  • What a difference between the rural hut and the resettlement house! The one is not much different than ones I'd seen outside of Tiajuana made of cardboard. What I find amazing is how they have such white white shirts!

  • Thank you Laura. It's the funds that bring us closer to being able to pay for the research that 1) help to manage the symptoms better, and 2) discover WHY those pesky T cells start attacking. I see March of the Penguins! I just saw a show recently on Animal Planet about the penguins of South Africa. How cool!

  • Great pics, that little blue bird is Amazing!!!  Wish I had one of those coming to my birdfeeder!!!  The ressettlement house is definitely a sad sight. Maybe the monkey stopped to watch the lizard porn. :ssgoofywink:

  • Great pictures!  Jenny must be having a great experience despite the lack of showering!

Those lizards are getting more action than I am ... :ssboohoo:

I LOVE these super smileys!! :ssgoofywink: :ssgoofy: :sscrush: :sslove: :ssstar: :ssalien:

    (sorry, couldn't resist!!)

    Happy Tushy-pushing Tuesday! Alicia

  • Awesome pictures! I never thought about penguins being in Africa. That's kind of weird.

  • I am enjoying these pictures and want to thank you for sharing.  Please thank your daughter.

I cant remember where I found your post, but keep posting those pics.

  • i bet she'll want a shower and a bath too!!

  • I love the pictures.

  • These pictures remind me of the bullet I dodged when I DIDN'T enter into an arranged South African marriage. [whew!] SO glad Jennie is doing well. Don't let them marry her off to some villager without talking to her mother! :ssgoofywink:

  • Neat pics. Are you counting down the days or what? Can't say as I blame you!

What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Will Matt make it home or will it just be you and the ex-spongeBob? (sorry....I renamed him.) Who cooks?

  • As always, wonderful pictures! Thanks for sharing.

  • The monkey was funny/cute.
    :ssgoofywink:

  • LOL, I have seen Alicia (over)using these smilies all over the place tonight!  Hehe!

I've read Jennie's most recent posts.  I just can't get over what an amazing experience she is having.  She will never forget this and it will really help her understand the world outside her own surroundings - something many people never do.

  • That's great!  She's an amazing girl.  Guess she has mixed feelings about coming home...and YOU don't!

  • Wow the rural homestay is very basic eh? They are wonderful photographs and I've no doubt that she will enjoy a long, hot soak when she gets home. Wont be long now huh? Bet you're feeling really excited to see her.:sswink:

  • Dear Laura,

Although I have visited Jennie's blog, I don't believe I've left her any  comments as of yet, and will remedy that situation before the end of the weekend.

Amazing shots of a country I still want to visit someday before the old ticker stops beating.  I love the composition in the rural home stay hut and the pretty bird is beautiful. Robben Island looks fantastic. I agree. Quite beautiful.

  • What an awesome experience for Jen..., I am sure she will never forget this, and it will in fact change her life.  That's super cool, and you must be so proud.
    Hugs, Tricia

  • Once again mother is covering for daughter. (that is the best part of having a mother). I am dying for Thanksgiving food...anyway too bad Jennie will be missing thanksgiving, I wonder if expunge is cooking thanksgiving this year?

Most likely you might be coerced into watching the juveniles again this year?:ssgoofy:

  • Eeep! Giraffes! AND PENGUINS!!!!!!!!
    And...lizards doing the deed???
That's such an amazing experience for her to have. She is one lucky girl.
(No showers though.. hmm. I still say she's lucky.)

  • Though I do have to say, seeing things like the "resettlement house" is really heartbreaking.

  • Once again great pictures.....

  • I LOVE the pictures.. beautiful country... exotic..... and makes you appreciate the things you have.
I'm glad I stopped by and SAW them!
    Love ya.. W
