Reply
I love the new reply feature. I didn't at first because it confused me. Would the people know I was replying? Why was my reply showing up on my site? Was I allowed to reply on others sites to THEIR comments?
And now I find that , yes, people are aware I replied. It shows up on my site so others can see it, but I can reply to more than on person at a time, so my profile picture is not hogging my site. I can reply to other comments on others sites.
This is very cool, because one, it's a time saver. Two, sometimes I wonder, how did she or he answer that person's comment? The only way I know is by going to the other persons site and looking. That's usually not worth it. Sometimes I also want to respond to another commenter but don't want to go to their site at that moment. If I did I would feel obligated to read whatever post they wrote and comment on it, when perhaps i had no time for that crap.
Sometimes I get a bitchy comment. I usually respond with something I think is a good come back. But now everyone can see how witty I am to the negative commenter.
It also makes it easier to answer comments. If your one who gets quite a few, it's now so easy to respond. Just click reply.
Oh and the new subs page and private page? NICE.
Good job Xanga.
Off to work, : dread:

Try and make the best of it or you can always retire.
I, personally, do not like the new Xanga "features." I just now blogged about it on my protected site. I think Xanga is adding unnecessary features and gadgets simply to compete with MySpace and to keep people from leaving. However, while I love Xanga, I don't find these to be value-added features that enhance my blogging experience. I don't want gizmos. I just want to write, and read some other people's blogs. Nothing fancy, thanks.... And I despise the Minis!
@Bukowski_Rules - very good and valid point...but in the today's world, one must have a competitive edge.
I was very reluctant at first, but the new features have helped me greatly...and have enhanced my ability to communicate with even more people. Very cross-functional...and despite my early thoughts...very practical.
I know that Xanga is NOT wanting to be like facebook or Myspace...but they do want to expand the experience (without losing who they really are) and grow as an organization.
If you were to go to the xangateam and let them know what you like/don't like - I'm sure you'll get:
1. someone who'll listen
and
2. a valid reason as to why they are doing what they are doing.
Besides, a lot of the changes are based on years of what the majority of xangan users have expressed concern about.
rock on mom...it's taken me time to figure it out too.
I had no clue about the reply deal. I love it too. PS Don't buy a tester/strips etc until after you meet with the educator. Ours gave us a free one along with a bunch of test strips. I get to take the other one my freaking gov ins didn't pay for back for a refund!
I like the new private page, too -- The comment reply is a great feature, but I wish it nested with the comment it's replying to on the main page on which you reply, so the readers don't have to go searching for the original to see what's being answered. Ah well...
p.s. I love the photo at the top - and your profile photo. Who is the artist?
I practically forgot that you had a xanga. I missed it. It makes me laugh.
ps...I'm totally winning.
Finally Xanga introduce a feature that's actually useful!
Yeah, that reply to comments thing is really cool, although I haven't used it yet. It avoids all of the "ryc:" comments that are annoying when they are placed with a post that the person obviously did not read.
i am going to wait and see what sticks before learning how to use this stuff.but Ill check out the reply feat..now.thanks!!
@whonose - Yah those Xanga bums...
@john - haha not bums, too harsh a word. Cautiously paced would be a more politically correct comment...
@whonose - cautiously paced?
But people don't know you've replied unless they come back to visit your site and read comments, right?
I haven't tried it yet, but it seems a lot better then doing the RYC part.
Half the time I forget what the comment was about.
love the reply button as well. it is a time saver!
It sounds like a neat feature. I don't see it on my site, but maybe that's because my premium lapsed. Or maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot.
@Daylily02 - I'll go check out your site soon and see
@ThatsMrsMayor2U -
yep
@ronlawhouston -
I know, I forgot to put that in there, but I forget too
@awish4you -
Yeah right!!!
@Bukowski_Rules -
I honestly thing this makes blogging easier, but to each his own
@edlives -
I agree 100 %
@LonaMay -
Thanks for the info. I was going to wait for my doctors office free sample's too.
@soul_survivor -
Yeah, this is so easy
@nicumom -
wrong it should go to your email and your private page, I thought the other thing too, but nope, check it out. I have replied to you a couple times already
@john -
I think he means you guys don't throw things at us right away. ????? who knows
@sincerely_jennie -
I don't think so!!!!! I am feel lose clothes coming on.
I haven't tried it yet. I fear change.
xanga has added some neat new features...
I"m slow adapting to change ... but I think I'll like the reply feature someday .... I'm still learning.
@Bad_Dogma -
Try it, you'll like it!!!!!!! Don't be scared little green man.
@Leonidas -
yes, they have.
@cindyjg -
It takes time, I agree
I used to want to go to the commenter's site just to see what their ryc was all about. Now I don't have to and like you said feel obligated to read and comment when I really don't have the time at that moment. A lot of the time I'm checking my subscriptions right before I leave for work...and I have to be careful...because the time does slip away from me.
so glad you said something about the reply feature. i didn't even notice it. That's funny.
Just in the neighborhood, I thought I'd drop by and leave a note (actually, I'm wasting time before I go home from work.:))
The new Xanga features are ok, they remind me a bit of MySpace though. I *really* like the comment reply feature... I felt like a bit of a stalker looking up my old comments.
Cool Blog!
@sprolee -
I don't have a My Space, so... I just know this is much easier. Thanks for droping by.
@PrincessFiveandDime -
Right this is way easier and less time consuming
@jessp505again -
I noticed it yesterday and was like WHAT? It scared me at first ha ha.
it is still taking me some time to get used to this "new" xanga!!!
OK... the humping bananas are just funny.. I don't know why...but they are....
Referring to another post... you DO know that Fonzi is totally gay, right???
Can't you tax the boys with something besides points??? What does that realy mean... I mean, if they have lots of points, what do they get??? I say you shove the little mouthy jerk in a closet.
I haven't used the reply thingy yet...although I've gotten some. It seems ok.. idk... I seem to spend more time going back and forth through someone elses comments to see why someone responded a certain way... LOL.. i'm nosey like that.
I love your blog! Check out mine? Don't forget to comment! Come see all my thoughts, hopes, dreams, and opinions! And tell your friends on xanga, so they can comment too. Thanks!
--poetrhyme
@poetrhyme -
Well I'll do that when I get a chance. But I never tell people to comment on others blogs, unless it's my family or close friend.
@bubblysox -
well here's a reply, the boys move up and or down levels they get things like passes and cd players and stuff for being at a high level. But they bite off their nose to spite their faces.
@momofjenmatt -
ps. Their dancing not humping, potty mind ha ha
Thanks on new feature I didnt use it yet. didnt quite know what happens. Will try next time.
So, when you reply to someone's comment inside your own received comments, does that person have to come back to your page to know you replied? If not, how are they notified that you're replied?
I know. I replied to you (at least I think I did) on that xanga post about "national delete your myspace page." I don't even see it here, so how do I know you will see it?
@Get_Real_64 -
Huh? I don't think I got that reply, but if you reply to any comments they go to the persons e mail or private page or something
@Hiattetcat8 -
Your wecome
@fratmom - Email and your private page, no you don't have to come back.
I'm confused about the reply thing.
@Get_Real_64 -
what confuses you?
@momofjenmatt - I don't know.. LOL
@Get_Real_64 -
ha ha, okay, well you seem to be catching on now.
@momofjenmatt - thanks for the explanation.
@fratmom -
your welcome : )
I don't like the feature, because I try very hard (and generally fail, but still I try) to visit the sites of my commenters and read THEIR blogs because if they took the time to read my blog, then it's only courteous to read theirs.
So if somebody comments, and I want to reply, then if I want people to see my reply to their comment, I will write a comment at my place AND cut and paste and go to their site and read their blog and comment on their blog and then add RYC followed by the cut-and-paste of my reply comment.
That's what I try to do. Time's always a problem. As you say, time's a problem for you, too, and you have many more commenters than I do, so it's VERY reasonable for you to like this feature more than I do.
Peace and Love and didn't we kick ass in South Carolina?,
Your friend Bob
@twoberry -
You can still go visit their site. Sometimes someone comments and there site isn't even updated anyway.
@twoberry -
Yes we did kick ass WOOT!
