  • Getting paid to xanga

Finally I am getting paid to blog.  No, Xanga did not realize the error of their ways and decide to finally pay me for my entries.  I am at work.  I have been given the job of taking kids to local community college to take GED tests.

I am so excited.  Today I only had to take one kid.  Here are the perks

    1) I can drive my own van and put in for millage.

    2)  I can buy myself lunch on the school's dime ( had a great salad.)

    3) I can go on the computer while the kid is taking his test, or I can read, or I can get lunch etc...

    4) I get extra hours which could potentially put me into overtime.

Today the kid takes two tests, the bad part is there is an hour in between and I don't really want to hang out with the kid.  Plus, I'm not sure what to do with him. I can't let him go on the computer, because he's not allowed.  I might just make him sit in a chair while I read.  he of course does not have his own book, as very few if any of these boys read for pleasure.

Anyway, unless I get killed on one of these trips, the perks definitely out weigh the negative.

Well he should be coming out soon, I'll try and come back for the next shift.

    Ps.

The guy next to me types way too loud.

  • My husband would probably pay me not to Xanga!

  • what a coincidence, i get paid to xanga too!

  • maybe invest in a stash of comic books for the boys

  • I sure hope the kids trying to get their GEDs will pass.  It will be a major accomplishment in their lives.

  • Maybe you should type even louder & stare at him the whole time(unless you watch your hands when you type?) and maybe he will get the hint his loud typing is annoying....give him a dose of his own medicine!

  • When you are called upon to take these young people to the community college for testing, do you feel that your abilities are being used to their full potential?  Do you feel that this task is within the line-of-sight of your personal vision statement?  Oh.  Wait.  You're getting paid to xanga.  Forget I asked those questions.

  • @SoonerRose - I'm making a note not to ever bother SoonerRose.

  • Dang, I thought you had actually figured out a new job that I was going to try for. I'll stick with mine.

  • getting paid to xanga, getting paid to myspace......ahhhhh the life :)

  • What a sweet deal!

  • I'm so sad that few of those boys read books just for fun. I don't know what to do about it, though.

Hooray for the great salad! What did you have on it?

  • Sounds like a good venture!

  • hahahah... he types too loud?  M does that sometimes. I swear she's going to run her fingers through the keyboard.  Especially the ENTER key.  Yiysh.  Maybe the kid needs a little hand-held gameboy or something to occupy his mind in between times..

  • What about taking him to the library so he can get his own book?  What are you going to do when you have more then one?

You are definately more well versed then me on Xanga, and I have premium. How do these stupid credits work? Why did they change the format (I hate it), and what the heck is a Mini?

  • I say you frisk them before you let them alone with you in a car. p.s. make sure of no weapons or viagra.

  • You should have started typing louder.

  • I used to get paid to blog...then they fired people who spent most of their work day online...not sure I was fortunate to be spared or not LOL.  I say type louder...and even talk to yourself outloud just to add to the annoyance for him LOL.  Hope the boys did well.

  • Getting killed would not be a good thing. Does he get to sit shotgun or in the back?

  • Last time I got paid for mileage was for the wrestling team. We also got breakfast money so I didn't feel bad never wining a wrestling match (though one forfeit is almost a win).

Soon you will be a sales person to write off your mileage? Or maybe you can be a professional writer?

  • Good for you!  Sounds like a good deal.

GEDs are great.  Through studying and taking GED tests I gained high school and one-year college equivalent while in the army.

Someone suggested comic books for the boys.  Good suggestion--and how about a deck of cards for solitaire?

  • ♥Xanga should pay you for your blogs♥

  • Ya' know what???? You remind me of a grown up version of a ficticious book character named "Junie B. Jones."  My daughter loves for me to read the Junie B. books to her by Barbara Parks. I just can't get over how many times recently that your writtings have sparked that thought in me........she's a great character btw!

  • Eh, take him junk food and a car magazine (charge the junk food to your lunch reimbursement), plop him down in a chair (where you can't hear him crunch or smell the aroma of the fat-filled but doubtless delicious crunchy treat), and he'll be happy for an hour.  Or find out if he's got an MP3 player you could sneak in for him...  then, voila! you're free and clear to go blog more that hour.

  • you won't get killed... so basically the whole thing will be awesome

  • Did you know, you aren't the only xangan living with your ex-husband?

  • Just point him toward the nearest liquor store.  He'll be fine.

    I'm a loud typer too.

  • Dear Laura,

So what you're really saying is that you blog at work.

I'm doing that right now. So I guess I get paid for blogging.

And as an electrical engineer, I get some good money, so I bet I get paid better for blogging than you do!

    Nyah Nyah Nyah.

BTW, I loved your "TRUE" entry. I have been religiously reading the comments on that site. One person complained in about four comments which were longer than even moi writes, so I went to their blog to check them out, and they not only posted protected, they weren't "allowing new subscribers" and there was nothing interesting on the blog at all.

Then there's the "False" brigade, which reminds me of the old Non Featured Content wars. Some people will complain about anything.

Too bad you felt compelled to say the entry below is:"sarcastic and witty." We know that already, but then you probably have to write these disclaimers for your stalkers. I bet there's some people out in Xangaland who really think I have the TRUE and LIFE badges tattooed on my head.

Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool

(Now lets get rid of that "reply" feature. Too many people are abusing it and not visiting my blog!!!!)

  • Dear Laura,

Sorry I used the wrong profile pic.

  • Wow, will you get to do this very often?  Sounds fun, if you can find a way to ditch the kids in between tests!  LOL
