  • Don't call us we'll call you!

If I had to identify myself politically, I guess I'm a democrat.  But no matter what, if you call me, and play a message, I WILL NOT vote for you.  Melissa Bean, some congress woman, who I think is a Democrat, called tonight.
This was right in the middle of a juicy conversation between me and a friend.  We were talking about her psycho, soon to be, ex sister in law, when I got call waiting.

My caller ID is broken, so I switched over.  Not really a big deal, since as soon as I heard it was Melissa calling, I switched back.  Or at least I tried to.  When I switched back my friend had gotten disconnected.  No problem, I'll just hang up on Melissa.  But the thing is, I couldn't.  Melissa would not go away.  I hung up, I waited two minutes, I even unplugged the phone.  Still, whenever I picked up, there was Melissa rambling on and on about Afghanistan or something.

I couldn't even tell her to shut up, as it was a recording.  How rude can you get?  I have no desire to listen to you Melissa.  Because of you, my conversation, which had an nice, easy, flow was ruined.  By the time I called my friend back, the magic was lost.

Where were we again?  Something about the sister in law making false rape allegations against your brother in law?  Or was it that the divorce is final tomorrow?  Damn it Melissa.

And what kind of last name is Bean anyway?  Is that your married name?  I refuse to google you and
find out because then your going to think your more popular than you are.  And then you will think it's okay to interrupt people's conversations and blab on and on about yourself for a good fifteen minutes.  And your secret thing that doesn't allow me to hang up on you, even when I unplug the phone was like a scary movie.  I mean, I could not get rid of you!  How does that endear me to you?  It doesn't, so make a note all you politicians, DON'T call me.  In fact, If I wanted to win an election I would NEVER call people.

These people are supposed to be smart, right?  They should know their constituents right?  Don't most people like to have dinner, and then chill at night?  Watch some American Idol, read a book, sit on their porch and have a tall one?  NO ONE I know wants to listen to fifteen minutes of some politician bragging about how great they are.  Not only that it makes them seem desperate.  Play hard to get you know?  Let me come to you.

It's like Hillary, she's so desperate, it's sad really.  She doesn't know how to back off and let go.  She's a turn off.  I thought these people knew how to play the game.  She should take a clue from her hubby.  Bill was always laid back, charming, a little mysterious.  Same with George.  She's all in your face, begging.  It's not cool.

I don't mind a commercial here and there.   I can fast forward, and might even listen , if you have something interesting to say.  But that's different, that's an expected interruption and they are on long enough to get popcorn and a diet coke.  Or if I watch a debate, I feel like I invited you into my living room.
The phone call thing, I feel like your a stalker, pushy, annoying.

Speaking of stalkers, I won best stalker mom at the high school thespian banquet 2008.  I was so honored.

Crazy stalker mom !!!!!!  I rock, and the glasses were my prize.  I love it.  1) I look insane ( every stalker should look insane)  And yet, I look happy with my lot in life.

Yeah Melissa Bean, you better back off, cause crazy stalker mom is on th loose.   And it's not pretty.

  • lmao!! I hate it when people like that call me too... I hate being interrupted from whatever I am deeming appropriate at the time.

  • I Have some Groucho Glasses!!!   I can't believe the political call hijacked your phone even after unplugging it & plugging it back in!  What if you had an emergency & Needed to Call 911!!!  That NEEDS to be Banned!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh & the RED eyes in the pic are an especially nice touch!!! LOL....

  • Wow...Melissa Bean needs to die! That surely would have put her on my "No Vote" list!

Love the glasses, and I agree with Halfacent, the red eyes are a nice touch! LOL

  • I know what you mean about Hillary but some people just love that about her as if they get turned on by it.  Better be careful because some out there might get turned on by your new stalker mom persona.  But I must admit that now I will google melissa bean for you.

  • Wow...they are hijacking phone lines now?!  I wouldn't be voting for her if she called me and wrecked my phone call either.

  • She is a democrat but a very moderate bean. She has a forceful gaze and her father was a Marine.

  • Melissa Bean is evil, and I hope she loses when she runs for dog catcher, or whatever it is she is hijacking phone lines to promote!

    Love your stalker look!

    Kathi

  • LOVE THE PICK!  Best stalker mom?  LOL

I hate those recordings, too.  I don't vote for em either!

  • lol.  Hilarious entry!  Thanks for the laugh!  =]

  • @apennieformythoughts - yay, glad you agree

@HalfaCent - I was going to fix the red eye thing and then thought no, that just made the look.

@flaminredhead - Thanks, I agree, they make me look crazier.

@brandi_shawn - yeah, hijacking, exactly,  I wonder if Melissa reads this blog?  Probably not, oh well.

@Isismoon - Thanks, but why does she have that name?

    @Still_groovy - Thanks Kathi : )

@SouthForkCheerMom - Thanks, yep, these people are just going to hurt themselves.

@SuccessfullyRelate - your very welcome, thanks for the comment.

  • Juicy conversations are so wonderful in the moment, but oh so fragile...

  • Hilarious!  Seriously, do these politicians actually think those recorded phone calls really work???

  • Ugh! I detest those recorded messages too. I've never had one that I haven't been able to hang up on, though. That is pretty rude, actually. And Hillary does seem desperate to me too. It's kind of obvious at this point that she's not going to get the nomination. I'd have more respect for her if she would gracefully step aside, instead of insisting that it's not over. I get the feeling that she thinks because she's the first woman candidate, she has to prove she's  tough. But it really isn't working for her.

  • This was in a newspaper article I read - I HATE THOSE CALLS!!!!  The frustrating thing is, studies have shown that they have NO positive effect, but politicians keep on doing them because they're easy and cheap.  I went to the site referenced in the paper (http://www.stoppoliticalcalls.org) and signed up just because hopefully it will eventually make a difference:

One possible solution: The National Political Do Not Contact Registry we recently launched at http://www.StopPoliticalCalls.org. By signing up, members send a message to politicians: "Don't call us, we'll call you." We're asking each candidate and political party to voluntarily agree not to contact voters who have registered with us.

  • Dear Laura,

My roommate left messages from Bill Clinton and Bruce Springsteen (I think) on the phone machine for months afterward. I told him that they were just recordings that were sent to everyone, but he kind of thought it was neat that Bill called him at home.

  • LOL! I'll remember not to call and interupt your juicy talks, that's for sure!

What is it with politicians thinking they can get all up in our lives? Heck, most people don't even vote anymore, which I think is sad, but do you think calling them and yakking for 15 minutes is gonna change that? Now, MAYBE, and this is a big one, if a candidate took the time to actually physically call me and talk to me, they just might get me to vote for them. As long as they called at an appropriately boring time in which nothing else was happening :D

  • @whonose - true : sigh:

@mom_da_bomb_14 - apparently they do, because this isn't the first one I have gotten and I don't think it will be the last.

@WakeUpLaughing - agree, it's like Hillary, have some class girl. It IS over, go away.

@TheWoobDog - cool, thanks for finding that for me!!!!!

@baldmike2004 - ha ha ha ha.  That's funny!

@silkenbutterfly - ha ha ha, and if they were cute and charming and had a nice voice.

  • She is also one of those politicians who mails crap out that blow around my front yard with a big picture of her on it.  I'm not voting for anyone whose pic is bigger than the statement about what they stand for.

  • maybe the first order of business should be buying a new caller id.  we don't answer anything unless the name comes up.  I have noticed that lots of "companies" are now sending what appear to be real numbers through so that people are inclined to pick up.  they think they are so sneaky, one can google the number and find out who it really belongs to and even list a complaint about their practices.

I wonder if melissa bean had anything to do with "the bean" at  millenium park?

  • @LonaMay - good point!

@illgrindmyownthankyou - Hummm, I never thought of that!   She seems like the type that would want her last name at  millenium park!

  • You're hysterical!

  • I have worked the phone banks for one politician and sometimes I speed up the spew to not waste too much time. It is not easy to man the phonebanks and needless to say the experience caused one pol to win and another to lose.

Nonetheless a phone call should be polite and not a recording...

I guess you still haven't got much sleep yet.....

  • @PPhilip - no sleep yet, and I really think calling at all is a hinderence ( sp ) to getting elected, but I wouldn't want you to lose a job so...

  • Ah, politics. I don't think there IS a good solution to winning an election and unfortunately, a lot of the really really annoying things actually WORK, which makes them happen more and more...  Maybe it all comes back to the fact that people are basically insane.  Yeah, that's probably it.

  • @evagarringer - I want a study done to see if the calling thing works, becuase I'm not kidding I really WILL NOT vote for melissa bean now.

  • You are completely right.....

    You do look insane.

  • Best stalker mom - high praise, indeed!!

  • @cindyjg - I know, I couldn't be prouder.

  • Love the new look!!

  • LOL I think thats great that you got stalker mom... thats awesome... but i think its a compliment.. it means they know you don't have to be there and you are and you are supporting them and they love you....right?

  • @bubblysox - I think so.  I hope that's what it means.

  • Oh. My. Gawd. Ditzy girl and I were about to scream at work last night. Normally? We have an operator that sits at the other end of the desk and fields the phone calls. But this week the afternoon woman is on vacation and our dear boss couldn't see to get someone hired and trained before the afternoon woman left. (She had close to two months.) Anyway, it was up to us to answer the phones and we kept getting calls from a recording that would tell us to, "Please hold." What the...? Did you not just call us?? Why would we hold?? How rude! I also received a call from a real-person solictor around 8:30pm. The worst part was he had such poor vocal skills that he had to repeat himself four times before I understood that he was asking, "Have I reached a business?" Yes, you have. And be glad. I would be seriously irked if you called me at home this time of night! Or any time, for that matter. If I don't know you, please don't call me. Period. And what gives with not being able to hang up on Melissa?? CREEPY!!

  • Hey there I haven't been making rounds a lot lately So I just recently read your mothers day post.....It was really touching :) Especially with my current situation our daughter turned 18 May 3rd and decided she didn't want to live in our home anymore......

  • @filtered_sunlight - OH I hate that too, the please hold when THEY called!!!!!!
    @browneyed_lady - oh, I'm sorry, that's sad.

    @azcason - thanks : )

  • Maybe you should call up Melissa Bean and tell her all about your friend's psycho ex-sister-in-law.  Refuse to hang up, of course.

So is the second-place stalker mom disappointed?  Will she start stalking you now, just to prove a point?

  • If Melissa Bean could have seen the pic of you with your winning glasses maybe she would have put the phone down sharpish!

  • @SavonDuJour - very true

@Bad_Dogma - Humm, second place?  Oh no, I don't think there was a second place.  I wonder if that should bother me.
