  • Avenue Q

Was great!  The part I was most nervous about ( puppet sex) was the funniest part.  At least I thought so.  But that's me and my warped sense of humor.

The night started out great with Dimitri the train conductor

He was very friendly and he didn't even call us out on our obvious lie, when purchasing tickets.  I had told Matt to say he was a senior in high school, so I could get the student discount.  I had learned on the last train ride, college does not count.

Matt: One adult and one student please.

Dimitri the train conductor:  How old are you?

Matt:  Long pause Uhhhhh, I'm a student at local community high school

    Dimitri gives discounted price

    Learn to lie Matt!!!!!!!!!

We went to dinner at Ed Debevics.  That's always fun.  A fifties style restaurant where the wait staff is rude.  I would be great there.  I don't know why it's funny to have rude wait staff, but it is.  Plus they are crazy, which I like.  Our waitress, was okay, but she was somewhat annoying.  I wanted duck man ( see pictures below.)  I did like that she called my friend a drunkie ( for having a daiquiri ) because this friend is practically the opposite of a drunk.  The friend was only drinking to prepare for the oral puppet sex in front of her 17 year old daughter.

We got cool hats there too

    Drunkie is in the middle

    Duck man ^^^^^^^^

annoying but sort of funny waitress ^^^^^  Lose the laugh and the Italian accent honey and you'll be fine.

After dinner we took a cab to the Cadillac Theater to see the show.  The cab driver, a South African guy,  was VERY interested in my cool hat.  Matt, who was raised right, ( although has problems with telling white lies) and is very generous, gave his hat to the nameless cab driver.

    He loved it.

We got to the show early, so drunkie needed another drink.  Jeeze, you would think she had never seen puppet porn before.  Oh right, she hadn't.  As a matter of fact, she never even watched Sesame Street as a kid.  She's a farm girl and was always working.  I don't know how she managed to learn her letters or numbers, but I'm assuming she did.

Matt and his friend Brea ^^^^^^^

Kate Monster above ( not Brea) was amazing.  She also played Lucy the Slut, often at the same time, which if you saw the show, you would realize how hard that would be.

She also had an amazing voice.

Lucy the slut's boobs are real.

Brea and her mom, Drunkie the sheltered farm girl.  I think Drunkie's boobs are real too, but I never asked.

Drunkie, the sheltered farm girl, seemed like she could have used another drink during certain parts, but she lived.

These were a couple of our favorites in the show.

    Evil Bears are VERY funny

Anyone who knows me, knows this is my kind of musical.  So even though I LOVED Wicked, I can almost see why Avenue Q beat it out as best musical.   Almost, but not quite.  Although I think this was much harder to do.

Anyway, I got a shirt.  And I am hoping to get up the nerve to wear it to work.  We'll see.  I think the " boys" will love it.

Sometimes it does suck to be me.  But it probably sucks to be you too.

  • LOVE THE HAT!!  You could start a trend!!

  • @LifeNeedsProtection - Thanks, I thought it was quite attractive myself.

  • I love the sign behind your head that says,   The customer is usually right hehehe

  • ha ha ha, I didn't even notice that.  Awesome.

  • I could see why you would want duck man.  I love the outfit!

  • @brandi_shawn - I know.  cute right?

  • Sounds like a fun time... love the new profile pic. It is SOOOOOO you!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
    Smugs'n'Hooches!

  • @MamaInkWench - Thank you.  It is sooo me, except skinnier and bluer.  Incentive to be skinny and blue ha ha.

  • Great time was had by all.  Will have to look for that restaurant the next time we go to Chicago.  H.H. would just love a place like that where he could dish back just what the staff dishes out.  The show sounds hilarious.  Glad you enjoyed.

  • Wait, did you just say Lucy's boobs are real? Haha.

  • I think I would have gotten drunk in order to see that show with one of my teenaged kids, also.  Booze would definitely be required.

  • Hahaha - very entertaining post.

I LOVED Avenue Q - I thought it was better than Wicked. (Although granted, I had read the book that Wicked was based on, and the musical didn't even come close to the material in the book.)

  • First wicked and now Avenue Q, what's next? Probably something without Matt I suppose and with Jen?

There is going to be Indy Jones in my future, maybe. I'll stick to movie theaters instead of live theater...

Oh what books are you going to recommend?

  • @tvtfln - It is such a riot.  And the birthdays are hysterical.  expensive diner food, but like I said a blast.  And the musical was amazing.

@junana18 - yes I did, becuase they tell us in the show that they are.

@Get_Real_64 - not me, I just laughed my head off.  Then again mine is 19.

@Coffeebee - wicked still has a number one place in my heart.  But yeah this was VERY close.  Such good performers and SOOO funny.

  • @PPhilip - I will probably go see Jersey boys with Jen.  I saw les mes with a friend .

  • Good point! It does suck to be me sometimes...lol.

Sounds like you all had a great time...yay! Oral puppet sex....hmmmm, I wonder when that show will be here?

  • Sounds like fun!  You said Lucy's boobs were real and Drunkie's boobs are real....are YOURS real?

You should SO wear that shirt to work!!  You need to look for another for work that says "Sucks to be you"!

  • Yeah, but when I think it sucks to be me, I look at that guy over there and I'm so glad I'm not him that I'm happy to be me again! Usually.

Good, I'm glad it's good. Now I want to go see it. I'm prepared to let bygones be bygones (I have never used that saying and I thank you for the perfect chance to use it!) and go see it. If/when it ever comes here. I think I'd like it too- I've heard great things. And it sounds like you had a really good time!

  • @flaminredhead - When it comes you should definitly see it.  It was fun.

@Low_Mom - No kidding, ain't that the truth.

@silkenbutterfly - If your not to prudish and oversensitive, you'll love it.  Anyone who was of the Seseme Street era, I think would appreciate it.

  • All I have to say is- WOW, puppet porn. I never would have imagined such a thing.
    Maybe Barbie porn.

  • Matt's friend looks like Kristin Cavaleri (if you watch any California beach kids reality shows you'll know who she is). Your new logo reminds me of a little episode in Aliens in America. The dad shows his son a book he doodled in during his high school years....turning all the O's into little boobs by putting a dot in the center.

  • @DiscordInTheGarden - It's fun

@PrincessFiveandDime - I don't but I'm gona google her now and tell her

  • I would love to see Avenue Q - hear it's  very funny. And a bit risqué, but that's OK by me - !

  • @cindyjg - very risqe, but since it's a spoof of Sesame Street, it's kind of like an R rated version of an amazingly well performed Saturday night live skit.  The singing and performing was outstanding besides being funny as hell.

  • ave Q is AHMAZING! i love how it takes real life issues and plays it in a comical way. glad you enjoyed it!

  • I am looking for a word to replace sucks.  By the time your t shirt wears out I hope to have one. There is something on the vulgar side to it. To hear a rabbi or priest use it doesn't seem right. Savvy?

  • @kulamulla - but I'm not a Rabbi or a priest and no one in the show ( where the T shirt came from ) is either.  Even if you have a word, I sort of like sucks, so I think I'll just keep using that word.  Of course your free to use whatever word you want.

  • @momofjenmatt -

Of course your free to use whatever word you want but I was sort of hoping you would help me in my search for a replacement word because using the same word over and over again  sucks.

  • lkajdlksajfalkdsj!!! I LOVE that musical!!! So much, its so amazing. I went straight home and downloaded the soundtrack after I saw it. I'm a theatre kid so I got to go back stage and meet all the cool puppet people.

It sucks to be me, it sucks to be broke and unemplayed and turning 33. it sucks to be. Oh I'm gonna be singing that all night. I'm all hyped up. haha. <3
