The News
I can't watch it. It's so depressing. Said in dire tone " AMERICA IS SCREWED" " WE WILL ALL BE LIVING ON THE STREETS SOON!"
You just can't get away from it, Oprah and Dr. Phil, two shows I usually enjoy because other people are more F'd up than I am, are not even fun to watch. Both had shows that talked about the economic crisis. I deleted them both off my DVR.
I should have DVR'd Maury Povich which would have guaranteed a Who's your Baby Daddy, or Send Your Teen to Boot Camp show.
Although, I could have turned it on and it could have gone like thisMaury: Today we have John Doe who almost lost his home, welcome John
Audience boos
John Doe: Ya bleep ya all, the bleeping bank was tryin to rip me off. They done gave me $150,000.00 I ain't never even had a bleepin job and now they want me to make bleepin payments. Bleep that bleep.
Which would have sucked.At least on my soaps they all have money and nobody really has to work, which is the way life should be.
We need to have a canidate that runs things like they do on All My Children. You can be a doctor without going to college or medical school, or have your own really cool business just for being good looking.
Oh wait, that's sort of like Sarah Palin, she might get to be VP. just because...
You don't have to be bright, just pretty and of course what some people consider down to earth ( although I find her annoying and fake.)
Maybe life is more like a soap opera than I thought.
Anyway, like I said, I am banning the news from my life for awhile. Which includes the little clips Comcast has when I check my E mail. I prefer a stress free life.
Let me know when it's all fixed.

I hear ya! I'm tired of being force-fed gloom, doom, and panic!
Kathi
I have no TV ,no paper and radio is static,I still hear about it too...it is s sad state of affairs!!
Nothing's ever fixed. We just lurch from one crisis to the next.
If I still have a job and my husband still has a job, it's OK in my world.
@Still_groovy - exactly, it's depressing
@seedsower - well no TV. would mean no fluff shows either, and I need those
@transvestite_rabbit - Thanks for your cheery comment!!!
@getreal64 - I hear ya, selfish but I feel the same.
That is a funny(but good) reason to watch Oprah and Dr. Phil! Maybe switch to Jerry Springer. You probably at least know your children's father and are not having an affair with your sister's husband or whatever.
I enjoyed your post.....not that economic depression is an uplifting subject but I enjoyed your approach.
@Isismoon - too much fighting on Jerry and too loud, it gives me a headache.
@mammaquiet - my approach ha ha is to ignore it until it goes away.
RYC: I think I'm a Jewish mom, too! Before R went to school, I got one of those plastic "school boxes" and filled it with Band-aids, aspirin, Nyquil, cough drops, etc. Generic brands, of course. You should have seen the look he gave me when I handed it to him!
P.S. - Not even a candy bar for Matt in all that cold medicine?
Kathi
@Still_groovy - no, I sent him some candy too and brownies and dental products too ha ha
Doom and gloom...PASS THE CHOCOLATE!!
@LifeNeedsProtection - hear hear
i agree. if i hear one more rich person like suze orman or dr. phil telling me i deserve to lose everything because of my spending habits and lack of responsibility!
i think the middle class needs to rise up and start a revolution!
@coletteatsea - well I didn't hear Dr. Phil say that, but then again I deleted that show. Susie Orman is rich because she has a gimmick, so I have to give her some credit.
I'm poor because I choose to be poor ha ha.
*nods* I largely ignore the news. If something truly life changing happens, I find out. If not, I don't really care to bog myself down with all that crap. The world is always horrible, there's always problems, so why panic? *watches rerun of Fairly Odd Parents*
Economic crisis?! WHAT?!!?! I haven't heard anything about this...
Signed, Alternate Reality Ami
@silkenbutterfly - exactly!
@madamzephyrus - ha ha ha. lets live in la la land together
Aha! now you are justifying your soap opera watching. However a lot of negative things happen there, which confirms your suspicions about people....
Then again there is no middleclass, less than fit moms on television now is there? Maybe you can write a television series on that?
Me? I am way out there in Fantasy land...
@PPhilip - Bad things happen on soaps but it always works out for the best, just like real life : 0
the sky is falling, the sky is falling said chicken little. I'm so over hearing about all the doom & gloom I've stopped blogging until after the election, I just read a handful of sites and the only t.v I watch has lots of designer clothes, pretty shoes & some kissing thrown in for good measure. thanks for not blogging about the dire straits of the world, much appreciated.
@illgrindmyownthankyou - ha ha, wouldn't dream of it your welcome. I'm going to fight my instincts to blog about McCain's psycho supporters ( from that rally he did), because that's a downer
So......does this mean you are going to switch to game shows??????
