Election, can we be done already?
In my fake election thing ( a couple posts down) Obama has won by a big margin. What does that mean? A big nothing if you ask me. Because your vote does not count here. In fact you may be from one of those states where your vote doesn't count at all. Not that I really understand the whole electoral thing, but it seems like, why bother? I actually did bother, in Il. non the less, and yes I voted Obama. Which is really non of your business, but I told you anyway. I am not going to list my reasons why, or try and convince you to vote for Obama. That would just be a waste of time, as I think most people have pretty much made up their minds at this point. I will tell you that although I probably would have voted Obama anyway, I am really disgusted with Sarah Palin. Which won't make me popular with Sarah crushers, but I really could care less. I have NEVER disliked a canidate so much. I have no idea why, it's just an instinctual thing.
Which is why I am so nervous. Some say it's a done deal, that McCain can't win, but I say never say never. So I wish it was over with. Normally, I vote and then let it go. I wasn't a Bush fan either time, but I wasn't crying about it either. I really WANT Obama to win. And I can't stand the stress of waiting. It's like when my kids used to audition for stuff, the waiting was unbearable. And I think if my guy does not win I might be just as disappointed as if my kid did not get the part. I might even cry.
I want to go back to not caring. I want someone to tell me that they know for sure it is impossible for McCain to win and give me good facts to back it up. Can anyone do that? One more week, I can do this. It needs to be what it is so I can move on. And it better be clear this time, because I don't want to go through that crap of maybe, maybe not. Just tell us who our president is and be done.
Please, no Sarah.
Please Electoral vote people, make the right choice this time.

I am so ready for it to be over too...
And I looked forward to voting...except my registration never showed up...errr
I live in an "Obama" state, California. You wouldn't believe the amount of McCain/Palin signs and "Yes on 8" signs around my little city!
(Yes on 8 is a local prop regarding gay marriage, if you Vote yes on it, Gays won't be able to get married)
My Dh and I drove through some neighborhoods last weekend and I shuddered at all the signs!
And I wondered, where are all the Obama/Biden signs? Where are all the "No on 8" signs?
Are we a bunch of wussies afraid to let people know where we stand, or are we apathetic, or do we silently seethe waiting for tuesday when we can "show 'em" ?
I honestly don't know the answer, but I'm scared! All weekend I saw 1 Obama sign and one (homemade mind you) No on 8 sign, yet I saw hundreds of McCain signs, and hundreds of Yes on 8 signs.
*shrug* I dunno.....
@brandi_shawn - so you don't even know if you're registered?
@flaminredhead - I see a gazillion McCain signs too, but I think it might be that these people are scared and think their sign is going to convince people to vote their way. Or maybe it's a conservative thing. I don't know, the whole thing stresses me out.
@flaminredhead - I do indeed think that Obama supporters are getting nervous. I voted for Obama, and it seems to me that McCain supporters tend to be a lot more aggressive....
@ClockworkBunny - I hope aggressive does not mean win
Amen to the title of your post.
I did an advance mail in vote just to get it over with early.
I feel the same way... albeit for my candidate-of-choice.
I'd hate to see the other guy win - and I just wish I'd hear someone say mine's got a fighting chance!
Here's a funny that I had to share, in light of our differing (yet polite, adult, and non-hateful
) political views:
http://despair.com/compromise.html
Obama's camp isn't saying it's over yet either. I get emails at least once or twice a day asking for my help in my city to get out the vote.
@emeralds - too bad we can't get early results
@TheWoobDog - I think your guy does have a fighting chance. I'll check out the link
@nevragn - well I wish it were over.
@TheWoobDog - ha ha, I went to the link, thanks!!!
This is going to be much closer than anyone thinks. The left wing media said it was over to dishearten conservatives. Meanwhile, polling data has been suspicious at best.
As the election gets closer, so do the poll margins. It's because the pollsters don't want to lose credibility.
Meanwhile, Obama/Biden have dusted off the Democrat playbook for the last 30 years. The Medicare scare routine is always a desperation play. The pro-choice scare is also an old play from way back. Both are bullshit, but doom n gloom are the DNC's main vote getter.
The GOP is doing the same thing. They want foreign policy to be the issue, because they win there. Of course, that idiot Biden had to go bring it up as an issue. Obama's slipping too, saying dumb things lately.
Oh, that bit about "nobody making under $250,000" routine is slipping. A few days ago Barack referred to it as $200,000. Today Biden quoted it at $150,000.
With Palin, it's just a woman thing. She doesn't poll well with women. It seems to me it's just cattyness.
@BB61 - Sorry but her gender has NOTHING to do with my disliking her. I do have several reasons besides my instincts which are pretty damn good when it comes to people, but I am way too tired to get into it.
I'm with you on Obama.....
This year is especially stressful....and with the last two elections being as they were (ahem) I believed sort of voter repressed and um..well, in 2000 the Supreme Court decided GW was in, so....this time....
As far as Sister Sarah, she is so unqualified it is pathetic.....
nope i have no idea if i am registered...i filled out the lil card...mailed it in and nothing. hmm...i wonder if there is a way i can check on that?
I think you're going to get your wish. Electoral vote-wise, Obama would pretty much have to drop out of the race for McCain to win.
I guess I can deal with high gas prices, though they are going down now...and I can deal with the 2000 judicial selecting president deal. Prices for food has also been going up but if the 99cent store turns into the $4.99 store I would be really mad....
And more crime will appear as the economy goes bad...And Israel will face a nuclear weaponed opponent....however we'll find out in the next four years...
I am soooo tired of election stuff. I have managed to remain somewhat sane, but today my kid started asking me questions and I started rattling off stuff. I get too emotional with politics.
My friend about died on my couch when I told her I voted for Obama. I didn't see it as such a big thing, but some people do.
Completely agreed. I'm looking forward to next Tuesday.
@mammaquiet - 7 more days!
@Bad_Dogma - really? How do you know this? I want proof. Other people say it's too close to call.
@PPhilip - yep, time will tell
@sanfranmami - really, so far my McCain friends have been very respectful, I think they secretly hate Sarah too.
@getreal64 - 7 more days whew.
i agree with you on palin -- very bad news... this whole election process goes on way too long ... i have my doubts that our votes count for anything -- i believe there's stuff going on that we don't know about -- that's why dumbya got "elected" in the 1st place ...
yeah.. this seems like the longest election period EVER. I've already voted cause I'm an absentee voter.
with you on Sarah Palin.
@wrytercatblue - yep
@inadee - way toooo long
I will just be glad when the hype is over.
@closethippie - yes that will be good
I don't understanf what all the fuss is about about Barry O'Bama. I mean, the Septics have had an Irish Catholic Head Puppet before now. Admittedly that one got shot, but hey, that's tradition fer yer.
