Oh Happy Day
It's over, finally, the most stressful election of my life. it's not fun being non apathetic, even when you win.
Although I thought McCain's concession speech was very gracious, I wished he would have been a little harder on his supporters when they booed so much. Then again, I guess they are allowed their disappointment and I know a lot of them are genuinely scared.Nothing I say here is going to help, time will tell.
I will say though, that this country cannot afford to show weakness, so I do suggest you get behind your new president.
At least give the man a chance.Although this is supposed to not really be about race, and although Barrack is mixed race, I still want to congratulate all the African Americans at work. The majority of our staff is black and about half of our clients are too. This has to be an amazing feeling for them. I might give them a hug.
I had an opportunity to go to Grant park in Chicago, since a guy I work with didn't want to be down there all night. He had tickets. I didn't want to either, so he actually sold two on Craig's list for two hundred bucks.
Whatever, it looked too crowded, no place to sit, they were all standing for hours. I voted Obama, but my couch was just fine thank you.
I did not like Michelle's dress. There I said it. Sorry Michelle, not my taste. The girls were adorable, but the dress, not so much. So I am wondering now, do the girls go back to school today? Will they bring secret service? Will their friends be like " now ya'll think you so cool cause your daddy is President?" Will they make new friends in Washington?
Will they invite friends to come jump on Lincoln's bed?Hey when I was their age? I would have ditched that secret service and played hide and seek in all the rooms with my sister. Well, maybe not my sister since she was a goody, goody, and would have told on me. After we played though.
I wonder if the girls get to redecorate their White House bedrooms? They do get a puppy, which is great. We need a first dog.
I hope they pick a Golden Retriever, my personal favorite.
So we made history. I was glad to be a part of it.
Next, A Jewish Woman president? Well thanks, although I'm flattered, I am much to busy changing one juvenile delinquent at a time.

I am so looking forward to the first dog. I bet the Obama's pick a mutt. Just my guess. Maybe a few more Jewish women on the SC too
@Isismoon - yeah, they probably will pick a mutt. Well I hope it's cuter than Michelle's dress.
I hope this world starts changing for the better.
Laura for President
@awish4you - Lets just have hope for the next 4 years. If he screws up I'll consider running ha ha.
Hey, I think you've got the time, the energy & the chutzpa (I bet I didn't spell that right, but I'm trying to be thematic here...) to do it!
I do hope they go to a shelter to adopt a "first dog".
The dress didn't do much for me, either, but, I would have looked much worse in it.
BRAVO! on the post.
When I was voting, there was a space for a "write in"... and I chuckled to myself as "momofjenmatt" popped into my head as a possibility. Maybe next election...
See, now that the election is over, the nasty criticism starts. So you didn't like Michelle's dress? Maybe those billions the campaign spent would have been better allocated to her wardrobe. Sure, nobody liked the price tag the other side spend dressing up Palin, but nobody said she looked bad.
Now comes the ethnicity card issue. Of course it was about race. Italians didn't flock to vote for Mondale when he chose Ferraro as a running mate. I don't recall a big push from Jews with Lieberman as Gore's running mate. You're wrong on the race issue.
This race was about hair. McCain lost because he's bald. Who was the last bald man to run? Yep, Gerald Ford. He didn't win. We've only had two bald Presidents... Dwight D. Eisenhower and John Quincy Adams. Ike was known from his war years when he led the greatest coalition in world history. He was unbeatable. Of course, he ran against the bald Adalai Stevenson, so a bald guy would have won anyway. J.Q. Adams had the sideburns. That countered his baldness.
So ease up on Michelle Obama's clothing. Just relax, enjoy a Democart Congress and a Democrat President and a return to the nostalgia of the Carter years.
i didn't think Michelle's dress was very flattering either. as far as race being an issue, it was the minority vote that elected President Obama, along with about 42% whites, according to CNN. but as my virtual husband pointed out, Barack Obama didn't run his campaign based on his race. so you see, America just saw him as the better choice. and as far as the puppy goes, i hope they choose a rescue pup as well. i was just so happy that in his speech he used the word, 'puppy'. LOL
Dear Laura,
I wondered if anyone in the Chicago area on Xanga was in Grant park last night.
I like Melanie Griffith. (Although I never liked all the collagen in her lips)
Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, fool
A euphoria here which shows no signs of letting up. "..but is this 'good for the jews?'" they ask me all day. Yes, a man with his brain switched 'on', how can that not be good for us? And Michelle bless her heart could have worn a housedress schmatta, for all I cared. Her pure radiant smile breaketh my heart. (We did get used to the leopard-skin-pillbox hat look, long ago but in a similar new morning for america, you may recall)
I agree with just about every paragraph. Didn't like Michelle's dress. Check. McCain gave a great speech but should have been rougher on the booers. Check. Just to mention a couple of the checks.
Golden retriever? Well, sure. I haven't met a breed yet that I didn't love, and they're one of the very best. Still, my personal choice is a Jack Russell, because Yoo-Hoo's image needs improving.
I have to give up trying to top the comments here...instead my wish is that we move to alternative energy instead of relying on fossil fuels. Also education of the young needs to be remotivated, more jobs that make sense and a economy that runs well. Those are such tall orders that it will be too difficult to blame anyone if done wrong. Thats why we all have to work together, get the best brains on things and work like our lives depend on it....
I would have been scared no matter which one won. Either way, America is screwed
Told ya so. It wasn't even close.
There were something like 250,000 people at Grant Park last night, so I wouldn't have wanted to go either. I didn't know you had to have tickets, though. I wonder if somebody was betting 200 bucks they'll be valuable collectors items some day.
Omg, what was up with that dress? I am positive she will make the worst dress list in People Magazine next week!
I thought it was funny with the Obama and Biden families were out on the stage the commentator said they were all headed for government housing! hahahahaha
He said they'd probably get their dog at the pound. I'm guessing the girls will be tutored.
@evagarringer - who the hell knows how to spell chutzpa?
@SouthForkCheerMom - No, I think she's beautiful, but I really hated the dress. But yeah, I would have looked much worse too.
@madamzephyrus - ha ha ha ha
@BB61 - okay, fine. But McCain had the option of hair implants before he ran, it's something he should have thought about.
@coletteatsea - I would have voted for him had he been green.
@baldmike2004 - Melanie is gross.
@jsolberg - I just didn't like the red blotches. She needs to choose better next time.
@twoberry - you're cute
@PPhilip - yep
@radicalramblings - I don't agree and I won't live in fear. I believe in positive energy.
@Bad_Dogma - Well, I am also thinking about the pictures. My co worker who sold two of his, but ended up going anyway ( I guess he had 4) took lots of pictures. Those could have been worth money some day too.He said they were so far away Obama looked like a little dot, but he also said it was amazing.
You were right, there I said it.
@Paizleygrl - ha ha ha
@PrincessFiveandDime - Oh, bummer for the girls.
I totally agree about the booing. And my daughter commented on it while Obama was speaking. She said how the Chicagoans (ok, most Chi-town folks) had not booed when he mentioned McCain's name, but that the McCain supporters had booed Obama's name. Very tacky.
I've commented on others sites that if McCain had spent the whole campaign talking like he did last night, I would have given him a little more of my time.
@nevragn - SO TRUE!!!!!!!! ALL OF IT. Maybe he wanted to lose.
@PrincessFiveandDime - I believe first family kids usually go to one of the local parochial schools. For some reason I think Chelsea did anyway.
@Bad_Dogma - I live near Chicago and I've been there for the Taste for fireworks night. I imagine last night was something like that, and something I don't care to repeat!
@jsolberg - I didn't like the outfits either, but I agree we'll get used to it. I'm hoping Michelle's natural radiance will shine past all that. Her good midwestern start should help lol.
A first dog. Now that's something people never seem to think of
I didn't like the dress either, not at all! I wonder if she is going to look at the video footage of that day either now or in the future and be mortified.
Congratulations on voting in Barack Obama!
@Daithi - dogs are cool. And very important.
@soul_survivor - Well I am sure she looked in the mirror. Too bad, she is very attractive. Maybe she was too tired to pick a good dress.
i saw an interview with barack a while ago that said his older daughter doesn't want him to get out of the car when he drives her to school, because she's embarrassed
@Jami86e - That's actually cute.
just glad it's finally over and we can now wait to see what he actually does....they all talk a good game at first. It was so nice to spend the day at home without some ass calling me for political stuff. It got to the point I was all but threatening when I would answer, on that rare ocassion I did answer...LOLOL
@jadedmom - I hear ya on that. I don't WANT to vote for you if you call me!!!!!!
I think this one has integrity we'll have to see.
I think they ought to get a true Heinz 57 mutt to go with their mixed heritage. Lol. But mutts have always been the best sort of dog in my experience.
You stick to your important job, girlfriend. I'm so glad you mentioned Michele's dress. It was a mess!! I didn't want to be the one to bring it to the conversation:)
Wow. I never thought about being a kid living in the White House. That would be so freaking cool. Now you've got me daydreaming about it...
I wish I was apathetic.
@Carolina17 - I have heard that about Mutts and it's true Obama is ind of a mutt too. Except really we kind of all are.
@fratmom - ha ha, well you know me. if you wear a dress that looks like you got your period on it, I'm gona bring it up.
@TheWoobDog - it would be fun
@mstigerfrogs - apathetic can be very nice.
