  • Goodbye drunk, pill popping, Paula, hello Ellen

When I first heard that Paula was whoring for more money on Idol and then got screwed over, I was surprisingly sad.  Yeah, she bugged the crap out of me, but not as much as the new girl who thinks she's the hottest thing since Tamales. Cara, Kara, whatever.  And come on, Paula is an American Idol staple.

I was going to miss her incoherent sentences and blubbering.  Who would Simon roll his eyes at and visibly cringe when she spoke?

It would be like dropping that Mary Murphy screecher on So You Think You Can Dance.  Some things are better left untouched.

If anything I would have wanted them to dump Randy.  Sorry, but the guy just does not do it for me anymore.  He's just kind of there.  I need to be entertained beyond the singers and he has not cut the mustard for awhile now.  At least Paula kept me amused.

I couldn't imagine who they were going to get, Ozzy Osborn?  Lindsay Lohn?  Her career needs a boost.  AND either she or Brittany Spears could do a good pill popping thing and it wouldn't feel like Paula was gone at all.

Imagine how thrilled I was to wake up this morning and learn MY GIRL ELLEN was replacing Paula.  OMG, I love Ellen!!!!

Granted she was a little out of her element on So You Think You Can Dance, but seriously, sitting by the screecher and the pmsing short hair lady, probably threw her off.  And she did have a couple laugh out loud moments, so I forgave her.

I am upset that the audition rounds have been taped with no Ellen and with not funny people like Victoria Beckman.

I mean lets face it, the bad singers in audition rounds are getting old, Ellen would have been the perfect breath of fresh air.

I would have loved to hear  " F#$#% ( beep) Ellen man, I can sing"

    But we can't have everything.

So goodbye Paula, have a nice life, bottoms up and cheers.  Hello Ellen, I am looking forward to laughing with you.

PS.  As you all can probably guess, my new favorite show, Glee, makes me giddy with excitment!

  • I don't think I'm going to like Ellen in Paula's spot.  I love Ellen, but I have a soft spot for babbling, incoherent Paula.

    Oh, and Glee?  Love it!!

  • @gottobereal64 - It will be hard, but it's better than some of the alternatives right?

  • I love Glee, too, but I can't imagine how they can keep that pace for the rest of the season!

And I will miss Paula, too; I agree with you about Randy.  And they will STILL have four judges, which is too much focus on judges and less on the contestants.

  • I heard about Ellen when Kathy Griffith mentioned it...so I thought it was a joke....but now I hear it's true so I'm glad. I didn't really watch it before but might now. I did finally see the first show of Glee....missed it the first time. Have to set the Tivo up to record it.

  • hey girl, ellen rocks!!!!!!!  I may even watch the show now.  How have you been?  I guess I could back read and try to figure it out but I have to run.  You take care of yourself.

  • I love reading your blogs.  I completely get your thoughts, well okay most of them.  But they either make me think or give me a great laugh like the one you just posted about your book club.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience, sure adds to my day!

  • @suzyQ_darnit - true, get rid of Kara, SHE BUGS THE CRAP OUT OF ME.

in the real show choir world they keep up all year, so it should be just fine, we'll see.

@PrincessFiveandDime - The first Glee pre season was okay, but last night it was GREAT, I loved it!

@jadedmom - wow, blast from the past!!!!  I'm good, same ol same ol, do you talk to anyone?

@wheaties2bk - Thank you, what a nice thing to say, I guess we're simpatico ( I think that's the right word) and if you can relate to me you're weird.

  • Hey, it takes one to know one! I am okay with being weird, there are worse things one can be.

  • Dear Laura,

I can't comment on this post cause I don't watch any of the shows you mention. (Get me talking about Lost or Fringe or Dollhouse, however, or my new favorite, from 1987, Thirtysomething, which I'm watching for the first time on DVD.)

However I did read your entry below about your book club. As I was reading, I had the same thought as you concluded. Good thing you aren't Muslim, practicing or not.

  • I LOVE Ellen to death, but I just don't see it.

  • @baldmike2004 - well, great minds and all that.

  • @kissmequikly - really?  Well I hope your wrong.

  • Yeah, me too!  And you know what I'm worried about?  People cutting her up.  I'm fiercely protective of my Ellen. LOL!
I've already heard quite a few nasty remarks on radio/news/internet and I feel bad for her.  She is such a good, kind, loving soul and I hate that she's put herself in the cross-hairs.

Just doesn't seem to be her thing, to me.  Did you watch when she did the SYTYCD judge thing?  She seemed out of her element, although she obviously enjoyed doing it immensely.

I think she should have taken on one of the 'guest' spots that Idol will be doing.

  • @kissmequikly - yes, I commented that she wasn't great on SYTYCD ^^^^see above blog.  But that was one time and she was a guest, plus she had the shrieker next to her.  She knows what she likes and I think  she will be honest that she doesn't exactly know music the way a former recording artist does, but she still knows what the public likes.  Besides, anyone is better than drugged out Paula.

  • Ellen is sooo funny! She'll be better than Paula, who couldn't really contribute anything worthwhile anyway.

  • l'shana tovah! did you delete your facebook? and this link is for you
